What are the dates and pricing for each program?

Option 1: Journeys of Exploration

  • Retreat Location: Earthrise Retreat Center, 101 San Antonio Road, Petaluma, CA, 94952
  • Weekend Retreat Date: Friday, March 16 – Saturday, March 17, 2018
  • Departure to Nepal: Friday, March 30 - Saturday, April 14, 2018
  • Cost: $7,250.00 (includes retreat, flights, accommodations, entrance fees, tips and most meals other than in Kathmandu and Pokhara)
  • Limit: 14

 Option 2: Journeys of Discovery

  • Location: 636 Lindaro Street, Suite 1, San Rafael, CA 94901
  • Therapeutic Dates: Monday, September 17th, –  Monday, October 29th, 2017 (meet twice a week, Mondays and Wednesdays)  
  • Departure to Nepal: Friday, November 9th - Saturday, November 24th, 2018
  • Cost: $13,250.00 (includes therapy group process, flights, accommodations, entrance fees, tips and most meals other than in Kathmandu and Pokhara)
  • Limit: 10

How do I apply for the program?

What are the requirements to participate in the program?

You must be willing and able to hike long distances at different elevations, be open to new experiences, have a valid passport with at least 6 months left before expiration. You will also need to obtain a visa, 4 passport pictures for visas and permits, and vaccinations for travel.

JOR may also request a signed release of information to speak with your mental health provider, if necessary.

How old do you have to be in order to travel?

For liability reasons, JOR only takes individuals who are 18+ years old.

How do I get a passport?

If you don't have a passport, you need to obtain one as soon as possible. Visit the U.S. State Department's website to apply for your passport. Please note, to travel to Nepal you must have six months or more remaining on your passport prior to entry to Nepal.

Is it safe to travel in Nepal and how do I obtain a visa?

Visit the U.S. State Department's website to read about the latest travel advisories and learn about requirements for travel. Visas can be obtained prior to departure through the Embassy of Nepal or a Consulate or at the airport upon arrival. You will need cash (U.S. currency is accepted) to pay the following fees:

  • 15-day multiple-entry tourist visa ($25 USD)
  • 1-month multiple-entry tourist visa ($40 USD)
  • 3-month multiple-entry tourist visa ($100 USD)

You can expedite the visa process by filling out the application online at Nepal's Immigration website. You will need a scanned copy of a passport photo, passport information, and your dates of travel. You will also need to print a copy of the paperwork to submit upon arrival at the airport in Nepal along with your payment.

What vaccinations are required to travel to Nepal?

Check the CDC's recommended vaccinations and visit your doctor 4-6 weeks before travel.
